If you haven't read the first two articles in this series, you can check them out here:
In this article, it's my turn to "walk the walk," as they say. As promised, here are my personal and professional goals for 2021:
I'm sharing these goals with you for two reasons:
To show you that I actually follow the strategies that I prescribed in the previous article
To hold myself accountable for achieving them 😊
Strategies For My Personal Goals
My personal goals for 2021 are relatively straightforward and will not require much planning or forethought...just simple systems for tracking the books I read, our grandparent visits, and my daily coffee consumption. I have already created an updated contact list for Christmas card recipients, so I will continue to update that as needed and will schedule a few reminders and deadlines for completing that goal.
Strategies For My Professional Goals
A couple of my professional goals are a bit more involved and, thus, will require some additional research, planning, and organization. For goals #1 and #4 in particular, I plan to use a similar strategy to the one I outlined in the previous article. I will start by researching and refining the goals and then create a step-by-step action plan for achieving each one.
Conclusion
I'll return to this list many times over the course of the year as I monitor my progress on each goal. Then, at the end of the year, I'll update you on that progress. We'll see how well I do at accomplishing my goals for 2021!
Series Conclusion
If there is just one thing that you take away from this entire blog series, let it be this:
Don't let fear prevent you from trying new things or achieving your dreams!
There is still a lot of work to do before I can officially hit “Publish,” but I have come a long way over the last year. With each new challenge, my confidence and belief in myself has grown. Although I still fear failure and the unknown, I have put strategies in place to help me face those fears head-on. In the end, the more I face those fears, the more fearless I become!
At this point, I refuse to let fear stop me from achieving my dream, and I will simply take this book one step and one decision at a time and make it the best book that I possibly can. When it’s finished, I will have a children's book that I will be immensely proud of, and that pride will propel me forward to reach for the next big dream, whatever it may be...maybe book #2? 😊
Here’s my challenge to you:
What can you do this year or this month…or even today to grow your confidence in yourself and to become more fearless than you already are? Think about it, record it, plan it...and then do it!
YOU'VE GOT THIS!!!
