MY STORY

I am a former crime scene investigator turned stay-at-home mom and children's book author. I have been writing children’s books since I was in fourth grade, when I was assigned to write, illustrate, and bind three books during the school year. I loved that assignment and went on to write several more picture books in my free time with the help of my Assistant Illustrator (my mom).

Writing a REAL children’s book has always been on my bucket list, but it wasn’t until I began reading countless picture books with my daughter that I rediscovered my love of children’s fiction and had the opportunity to write some stories of my own. I spent most of 2019 feverishly thinking of ideas for stories and trying to get them down on paper before they either disappeared or my daughter woke up from her nap.

Then, in 2020, I decided it was finally time to figure out how to share my stories with the world (or at least with someone other than my husband, daughter, and parents). Without a clue of where to start, I began researching the publishing industry and the options available to authors in my position. A year and a half later, I finally published my debut picture book, The Train Rolls On! My goal is to continue writing children's books that portray positive messages while remaining entertaining and enjoyable for both kids and adults to read.

When I am not writing, I love to cook and bake (mostly eat!), read, run, golf, play sand volleyball, and spend time with my family. I grew up in Spencer, IA, but now live in Omaha, NE with my husband, Eric, and our two kids.
