MY STORY
Hi! I'm Jodi. I'm a former crime scene investigator turned stay-at-home mom and children's book author. I have loved reading and writing ever since I was a kid. When I was in fourth grade, my teacher asked me to write, illustrate, and bind three books over the course of the year. I LOVED that assignment and went on to write several more picture books in my free time with the help of my assistant illustrator (my mom).

Writing a REAL children’s book has been on my bucket list for many years, but it wasn’t until I began reading countless picture books with my daughter that I rediscovered my love of children’s fiction and started writing stories of my own. I spent most of 2019 feverishly thinking of story ideas and trying to get them down on paper before they disappeared (or my daughter woke up from her nap).

Then, in 2020, I decided that it was time to share my stories with the world (or at least with someone other than my husband, daughter, and parents). Without a clue of where to start, I began researching the publishing industry and the options available to authors in my position. A year and a half later, I published my debut picture book, The Train Rolls On, and I've never looked back! My goal is to continue writing children's books that portray positive messages and that are entertaining and enjoyable for both kids and adults to read.
When I'm not reading or writing children's books, I love to cook and bake (mostly eat!), run, golf, play sand volleyball, and spend time with my family. I grew up in Spencer, IA, but now live in Omaha, NE with my husband, Eric, and our two kids.
