I am a former Crime Scene Investigator turned stay-at-home mom and author of The Train Rolls On. I have been writing children’s books since I was in fourth grade, when I was assigned to write, illustrate, and bind three books over the school year. I loved that assignment and went on to write several more picture books in my free time with the help of my Assistant Illustrator (my mom).
Writing a REAL children’s book has always been on my bucket list, but it wasn’t until I began reading countless children’s books with my daughter that I rediscovered my love of children’s fiction and had the opportunity to write some stories of my own. I spent most of 2019 feverishly thinking of ideas for stories and trying to get them down on paper before they either disappeared or before my daughter woke up from her nap.
Then, in January 2020, I decided it was time to figure out what I needed to do in order to share my stories with the world (or at least with someone other than my husband, daughter, and parents). Without a clue of where to start, I began researching the publishing industry and the options available to authors in my position. A few short months later, I am well on my way to publishing my first picture book, The Train Rolls On. My goal is to continue writing books that portray positive messages to children while remaining entertaining and enjoyable for both kids and parents to read.
When I am not writing, I love to cook and bake (mostly eat!), read, run, golf, play sand volleyball, and spend time with my family. I grew up in Iowa but currently live in Omaha, NE with my husband, Eric, and my daughter, Avery.
